Showdown: SM Hypermart vs. Shopwise Libis

  • Sep. 24th, 2007 at 5:00 PM
bored

It is on!

I've been visiting SM Hypermart lately because its been more convenient. My best friend BF - Bayani Fernando, MMDA Chairman has closed off all the u-turn slots from Blueridge (where I live) up 'til Ortigas Ave. extention. What does this mean? An extra liter of gas, when with the same amount, I can already do my grocery shopping at SM Hypermart (also conveniently located across Boy Elroy's regular jamming studio).

Lets do point system.

Organization:
SM Hypermart - love how the meats, poultry, fish, packaged foods are arranged at one end of the supermarket.
Shopwise Libis - although its also on one side, the breakfast foods are broken up, there are open refrigerators for the hotdogs, bacons, etc., and the hams are by the wall and the meet altogether and the fish is in another station blah blah

Organization point goes to SM Hypermart.

Personal Care Products:
Shopwise Libis HANDS DOWN. Haha No explanation necessary. Oh okay. SM's was more limited. Maybe because Watson's was outside of the grocery area and that doesn't really count now does it?

Hmmm.. what are other criteria for judging?

Foodcourt:
SM Hypermart! Because of the Pa-luto options. Haven't actually tried it yet, but the swimming shrimp inside aquariums looks pretty fresh to me. Shopwise's is kinda sad looking but they have better dessert options. So.. that means.. Shopwise wins. Haha Both of them get a half-point.

Other amenities:
SM Hypermart has an LTO Driver's License registration center.
Shopwise has Tape Measure - a fantastic alterations place.
SM Hypermart has Mr. Quickie.
Shopwise has a BPI ATM machine.

Tie again!!!

I really can't make up my mind. I'm still more partial towards Shopwise because you always stick to your mother grocery. SM is a lot cheaper (said Gino) and is a contender for 2nd best happy grocery of my heart.

I also have a frequent shopper Shopwise card and I've invested quite a lot with the points and I'm hoping to super splurge and buy something totally unnecessary like a blender.

I wish I had photos for this post.

song of the hour

  • Jul. 27th, 2007 at 4:17 PM
hobby
I just need to post this because it makes me happy and so i dont have to google the lyrics everytime i want to sing along.

Popular by Nada Surf

Three important rules for breaking up
Don't put off breaking up when you know you want to
Prolonging the situation only makes it worse
Tell him honestly, simply, kindly, but firmly
Don't make a big production
Don't make up an elaborate story
This will help you avoid a big tear jerking scene
If you wanna date other people say so
Be prepared for the boy to feel hurt and rejected
Even if you've gone together for only a short time,
And haven't been too serious,
There's still a feeling of rejection
When someone says she prefers the company of others
To your exclusive company,
But if you're honest, and direct,
And avoid making a flowery emotional speech when you brake the news,
The boy will respect you for your frankness,
And honestly he'll appreciate the kind of straight forward manner
In which you told him your decision
Unless he's a real jerk or a cry baby you will remain friends

I'm head of the class
'm popular
I'm a quarter back
I'm popular
My mom says I'm a catch
I'm popular
I'm never last picked
I got a cheerleader chick

Being attractive is the most important thing there is
If you wanna catch the biggest fish in your pond
You have to be as attractive as possible
Make sure to keep your hair spotless and clean
Wash it at least every two weeks
Once every two weeks
And if you see Johnny football hero in the hall
Tell him he played a great game
Tell him you like his article in the newspaper

I'm the party star
I'm popular
I've got my own car
I'm popular
I'll never get caught
I'm popular
I make football bets
I'm a teachers pet.

I purpose we support a one month limit on going steady
I think It will keep people more able to deal with weird situation
And get to know more people
I think if you're ready to go out with Johnny
Now's the time to tell him about your one month limit
He wont mind he'll appreciate your fresh look on dating
And once you've dated someone else you can date him again
I'm sure he'll like it
Everyone will appreciate it
You so novel what a good idea
You can keep you time to your self
You don't need date insurance
You can go out with whoever you want to
Every boy, every boy, in the whole world could be yours
If you'll just listen to my plan

new 7 wonders of the world!

  • Jun. 25th, 2007 at 3:51 PM
hobby
I wandered over into the the New Seven Wonders of the World website where anyone can vote for their top 7 places, which will be included in the new seven wonders list. From a list of 21, i narrowed it down to:

1. Angkor Wat, Cambodia

2. Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

3. The Roman Colloseum, Rome, Italy

4. The Great Wall of China, China

5. Machu Picchu, Peru

6. Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom

7. Taj Mahal, Agra India

I think I've been a bit to biased. I tried to put in as many Asian countries. And I sort of have the Latin connection so Brazil and Peru are in there. Anyway. It was fun. Winners will be announced on July 7, 2007 (7/7/07) in Portugal. Let's see what happens. Go vote!

shopwise happy sessions

  • Jun. 18th, 2007 at 1:58 PM
hobby
I went to shopwise twice over the weekend and it made my day. This week's happy things include:

- no drowse decolgen
- palmolive soap the one with jojoba somethingy-or-others
- cotton balls
- bromate-free pandesal
- keebler chocolate covered graham crackers
- chicken vienna sausage

Expect to go back before June ends to buy some triumph undies on sale. If you buy three pairs of panties, you get two at half price and the third at regular price. Get three for the price of two! haha But I couldn't decide what the difference was between a tanga and a v-backed tanga. Also on the must-buy list is a new set of facial care products, shampoo and lotion.

This is therapy for me to be able to write this. I urge everyone to visit their local grocery soon. Go through all the aisles like I do. Bring a list. Tick off each as soon it gets inside your cart. And when its your turn at the check-out counter, segregate everything into home products, personal care products, edibles and meat/fish if any. I generally like to have a dry-to-wet approach. Put in all the dry purchases first and make sure to put in the big, heavy and bulky stuff if your bagger is using a box. Light things go on top.

I'm at work by the way. But do I sound like I'm working?

you make me wana la-la...

  • Sep. 9th, 2006 at 12:10 AM
happy
I had a pretty good day today. I realized i can't live without my friends. as much as i always have a blast with gino, nothing beats kicking back with girlfriends, gossip about other people and reminisce highschool and college memories. fun fun fun. yummy food isnt a bad thing either.

i had a couple of realizations over the past few days. I feel like a really lucky lucky lucky daughter. my parents have been really patient with me. they let me bum around in cebu after graduation for two months, send me to the states for a month and support me (allowance) for the past three months. no pressure to take a job asap or take a particular job. love love love to ulysses and marilyn. an application at a PR agency is going well i think. I'll see where that takes me. other prospects are an ad agency and a publishing house. i don't know. i don't sure. i need all the luck luck luck in the world.

UdD=happy

hobby
just came from an updharmadown gig. people around me were smoking up a storm that when i left the gig, i could taste the cigarette in my mouth. ugh.

nonetheless. fantastic music. its pathetic how everytime i go online i immediately check these websites.

ph.jobstreet.com
www.jobsdb.com
www.jobmarketonline.com
www.trabaho.com
jobs.up.edu.com
www.dlsu.edu.ph/offices/sps/ocs/jobpostings

it's getting pretty pathetic. my sister asked if i was going home/cebu for sembreak. i was like. depends if i have a job by then. if i do, well and good. but if i don't? it would be 7 months since graduation. that's pretty pathetic. well.. for an ego boost, i did take 3 months off. so i've been stagnant for 4 months, sitting my ass off. this is so sad. i am so sad.

dilemma: low-paying and interesting job
vs.
high-paying and mindless job

need help here. shout out if u have an opinion.

anywayyy.december is the deadline. if i don't get a job by december i am going home. giving up. hahai buhay. can't wait for ULTIMATE SHOPWISE WEDNESDAY tomorrow. cant cant cant cant wait. i've been dreaming about it.

not quite making the tea switch

  • Sep. 5th, 2006 at 11:31 AM
bored
i love coffee. i do. but being the gullible girl that i am, im trying out tea. my sister told me that green tea speeds up your metabolism. and i thought, well. there's no harm in trying. so i'm drinking tea. sometimes. but nothing beats that mocha latte. i'd drink coffee any day.
